Singer Denise Johnson , vocalist for Primal Scream , has died at age 56 in Manchester, England, her family has confirmed.
In addition to Primal Scream, Johnson's career included contributions as a vocalist for bands such as New Order , Johnny Marr , guitarist for The Smiths , among many others.
Her family stated in the official announcement that the artist “had been ill in the week prior to her death, but told friends she was 'much better' on Friday.” The cause of death is still unknown, but the family says she was “found holding her inhaler on Monday morning.”
Primal Scream expressed their sadness over Johnson's passing, stating that his contributions and touring with the band were vital and a testament to his talent, which are now precious memories.
